For the most part the communities I frequent are positive: not hateful against Microsoft just FOR Linux and other alternative operating systems, and overwhelmingly positive about GNU and FOSS.
Nonetheless, there are always those about who are willing to take a bash at Microsoft. I have done so myself! IT is tempting, they have made themselves an easy target by continually leveraging legal action, illegal action, unethical practices, and ignoring or actively attacking their own customer base and market partners. They are under continual investigation and indightment in different parts of the world, and most likely will be until their business models and practices undergo major change. As a result, there will ALWAYS be those willing to take the "cheap shot". Some of those "cheap shots" will be valid (I hope mine were) and some less so, but they will always be.
This does lend some validity to the article, and two of the points made. It was worth reading.
I am not sure the small amount of negative is significant against the overwhelmingly positive general population, but that is based upon my personal experiences and not a general and properly researched general survey. Perhaps the author frequents more negative communities and has a far different experience and impression. I would certainly like to see the result of some well run (or even poorly run) studies on the subject.
