nintendo 64 controller -> pc

hey, I'm working on using my n64 controller as a controller on my computer, since of all controller i've used, the n64 is hands down my favorite. however, it's not trivial, since the controller has its own protocols and such.

i've taken a look at the original site which is chock full of useful info
http://www.st-hans.de/N64.htm

and the more user-friendly step by step guide here
http://www.arcadecontrols.com/Mirror...d/imprimir.htm

the thing that neither site tells me is what the heck a cmos 4006 chip is. from doing a lil searching, i found thats its a serial shift register, and it's probably discontinued, but i cant find it on digikey.com or mouser.com. anybody have any experience with this? i want this to be a weekend project, but if someone's got another substitute (not discontinued) chip, i guess i could redo the connections for the other IC.

maybe see if you can get the specs for the chip, if its simple enough you might be able to make small board that can replace the chip
