naming convention for dual boot boxen

Hi there,

I have a box running Debian, I want to set it up as a dual boot with SuSE. What I want to know is: what's the convention regarding hostnames in this situation? Should both distros have the same hostname because they're on the same box or different hostnames because they're different distros?

(It's not really important because it's just my home desktop box and isn't on a local network or anything)

Do you guys know what the convention is or have any thoughts on the subject?

Thanks
Jessica

Hi;

I always use the same hostname for a machine. I give each installation a unique ID for note taking.

The only thing I wonder is that I just use a name, no tld (ie .com or .org). Is there a generic tld?

Thanks. I'll give them the same name.
