sorry don't know, but i had to share this one.

feeling tired
by the fire
the long day is over

the wind is gone
asleep at dawn
the embers burn on

with no reprise
the sun will rise
the long day is over

that's the whole song by the way.

I think I could join this one.. I can guarantee no one will know this one, if you do you win a biscuit.

#This songs made up, made second rate
#Cosmetic music, powderpuff
#Pop tunes, false rhymes, all lightweight bluffs
#Second-hand ideas, no soul, no hate
#Wasn't mean to be
#Built on complacency
#The nightmares ride away
#When you refuse to play
#Oh go and read a book
#It's so much more worth while
#Being a song-smith crook
#Study death in style
#Death in style

#This language used is all worn out
#A walking corpse that won't play dead
#Disease dragged on from bed to bed
#Pay for your twist, paid for shout
#Wasn't meant to be
#Built on complacency
#Open your eyes and see
#That lie is not for we

#Raise a rope and a knife
#Cut it out - the lie
#I don't want to decay
#Take the short cut away
#Oh go and read a book
#It's so much more worthwhile
#Being a song-smith crook
#Study death in style
#Study death in style

#Heard you calling through the drumbeat
#Answered with sticks and bones
#Scream, shout, and dance about the campfire
#You can hear the question, can you feel the reply?

I didn't post last part, it says the name of the song in it which could give it away.

Nice hymn sounds kind of villagey

You're going to have to go either country or new gospel.

williamwbishop 02-12-2003 11:13 PM

Try this on for size....

They shot him dead at the Nine-Stane Rig,
Beside the Headless Cross,
And they left him lying in his blood,
Upon the moor and moss.

another hint:
She bathed him in the Lady-Well,
His wounds so deep and sair,
And she plaited a garland for his breast,
And a garland for his hair.

Not a clue...
How about:
Well the snot has caked against my pants
It has turned into crystal
There's a bluebird sitting on a branch
I think I'll take my pistol
Because he's on my land...

"waltzing matilda".

If I might correct you...
The song you quoted was [And] The Band Played Waltzing Matilda
about one Ozzie's experience in the first world war.
Waltzing Matilda is about a vagrant on the run throwing himself into a water hole and drowning.
I don't know which is the more miserable.

Quite correct, it is "The band played Waltzing Matilda". Thanks for the catch. I must be starting to take shortcuts...or I was tired one. Either way, clumsy of me.

these threads/questions are far too easy. A simple google search would give you the exact song. *goes to search on google*

Annnnd...here it is: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...e-Stane+Rig%2C

I know it was already solved but whatever...
