Hi

I'm not really sure what you mean...do you mean that the page isn't loading up properly, so when you type in your password and press enter it doesn't go anywhere? Or, do you mean that you don't remember your password properly (or that it tells you that you have the wrong password). In the second case, click on "Forgot your password" and you should remember your secret question and secret answer. Type these in and you should be able to reset your password. You see, I don't really understand what you're saying because you aren't being clear enough. You may want to take a look here before yuo continue posting. It's Eric Raymond's guide on "How to ask smart questions". Then I may be able to answer your question.

[EDIT]

AND, why did you put this thread in the programming forum? Erm...it should probably be in "General".

First of all, not everyone who reads Linux Questions is a programmer. Secondly, programmers do not know "everythink." In fact, they and I have no idea what you're thinking. You need to explain more. What exactly did you do, and what exactly happened? Just telling us something didn't work doesn't help us help you. Are there are error messages? If so, what are they? Are you using a web browser to check your email? Which one? We need specifics...

Well you see i want to be able to send and receive emails as well as access my email account at hotmail and thank the person who got my internet up and running.

If you take the time to read my other topic of post you will see just how much trouble i have had but the fact of the matter is ..........

kopete will not except my hotmail password and or my email address
i have a 9 week understanding of linux using mandrake 10.1 fully updated
But the password and or emailaddress is wrong baring in mind Ive used the same details for 6 years i would find it highly improbable that i have made an error.

now i was using an linux box in tx mode no mouse connected to access the internet in lynx and setup details for email account there.
But when i retraced my steps in my browser it just will not accept any details
It will not even let me send an email says
"you need to add an account in network section of settings to receive mail"
which i do but no options there help me i mean there was two
smpt and send mail but none of them activate anythink.

I hope this detailed discription of my problem helps you help me and just for the record you are either the most modest programmer/tech ive ever chatted with or you are not a programmer anyway i even class myself as a programmer as i no basic pascal html and thats basic 1 from the old 8bit bedroom programming days so iam not stupid when it comes down to it i just prefurr programmers as i get more sence out of one sorry to offend didnt mean to and thanks for all your help

Firstly, well done for the 5-star bullcr4p you wrote at the end of your last post about you getting more sense out of programmers...not the way you want to go around getting help IMO...

Anyway, it is impossible to send/receive mail with an email client with Hotmal UNLESS you have a Hotmail Plus account, simply because of the fact that Hotmail restrict POP3 access to non-paying members.

Have you tried going onto hotmail.com in another browser (i.e Mozilla Firefox)? Where does it say:
Quote:
"you need to add an account in network section of settings to receive mail"
? I don't have a clue where you saw that.

As for your Kopete problem, have you tried using an alternative (better) IM program like Gaim?

Please explain yourself fully. [rant] AND READ "HOW TO ASK QUESTIONS THE SMART WAY" ONCE AND FOR ALL [/rant]

Sorry for double-posting but...

...Just for you:

1) Tell us EXACTLY what you are trying to do.

2) State exactly what program you are using.

3a) If you're using a Web Browser, tell us what web page you are on, what you are typing in, what button you are pressing (like "Enter"), and what the error is.

3b) If you're using an IM/E-mail program, tell us exactly what you are typing in, which box you are typing that into, what button you are pressing to go onto the following window, and just about any other detail I've left out.

Come on man, try to help us help you.

This is a Hotmail/MSN issue, not a Linux issue as it works fine using any standard browser while using Linux. Moving to General where this question is more suitable.

Ok coolvibes, go to the .Net Passport Contact page and send them an email, stating your problem as you have told us. Just tell them that you can't log into Hotmail using ANY browser, that you've used the same username and password for the past 6 years, and that now it doesn't let you log in because it says that your u/n or password is wrong. They should be able to help you, just try not to state "Linux", because then they might be slightly prejudiced against you!

according to this line
Quote:
kopete will not except my hotmail password and or my email address
I think you should look here

I believe you're still using a version of kopete prior to 0.10.1, which is unable to access the 'upgraded' microsoft msn servers.

but indeed, this is only a guess, since you didnt really posted that much info about your problem
