Thing is though vi0lat0r,

If the project is in any way microsoft IP, then they'd need serious permission from one of the M$ "god's" to release it via open source.

And we're all pretty familiar as to how zealous "they" are in respect of open source software.

Or perhap's I'm just being too cynical.
