Linux creator Torvalds switches to an Apple Mac

Hi all.

I've just read this article at:

http://www.zdnet.com.au/news/0,39023165,39183867,00.htm

What do you people think of this. I think it doesn't really matter. After all, linux is now more of a community product.

Of course it doesn't matter what hardware one
uses to run Linux.

I'm glad to see him working on PPC. The more platforms linux runs on (and runs well on), the better.

As long as he is using Linux, there is nothing wrong with that. I am actually thinking of getting the mac mini coz it looks kool and putting Linux on it.

Linux runs better on a PPC? lol some people!

Who cares what OS/hardware he uses? If he used a Pentium 6 with Windows 2010 I wouldn't care!

Torvald's response came quickly and succinctly. "My main machine these days is a dual 2GHz G5 (aka PowerPC 970) - it's physically a regular Apple Mac, although it obviously only runs Linux, so I don't think you can call it a Mac any more " he said.
so what, the mac G5 technology is very solid, fast, and with a nice dual CPU setup like that he could run circles around most x86 platforms today only an x86-64 dual setup could keep up with it in raw power...

its free hardware for him, and if i could get my hands on that same setup for FREE you had better belive i would and run linux on it in a heart beat.

I think it's a great article. Thanks for the link. Just goes to show that Linux can run on many different hardware setups.
