MP3 Tagging

Hi,

For MP3 Tagging I use MP3Tag, however the databases which it uses arn't always accurate or populated with CD information and i'm too lazy to read the back of the CD cover and type in all of the track information.

Is there an alternative piece of software which you could recommend which has a rich set of CD databases which the software can search and is currently maintained so that it has new features and updates.

Failing that, the ISBN of my CD is printed on the sleeve, so is there a database online which I can access which will list the tracks.

I guess you managed to post that without seeing my reply? Puddletag has a good selection of tag sources, including MusicBrainz.

Hi, I did see your reply, thanks again for that, much appreciated, a very nice piece of software.

However Puddletag uses the same databases as MP3Tag. Tbh there are not that many CDDB like databases.

I never understood what happened by the CDDB service, were they bought out by Gracenote, and thats now a commercial service ?

How come that these pieces of software don't use http://www.freedb.org/

Because freedb and Gracenote are for CDs. RubyRipper and EasyTag need different databases because they deal with MP3s, not CDs.

RubyRipper does use freedb. So do most competing CD rippers, although RubyRipper is the only one worth using because it has the best error correction.
