mp3 codec
did you notice that REDHAT 8 removed intentionaly, mp3 codec? or havn't you noticed that your XMMS only play uncompressed audio {audio cd}
i see, you went straight on to download the codec when your REDHAT 8 refused to play your mp3, no question asked. it is all in the name of copy right,please don't think it is only in the download version. you are not using REDHAT 8 i suppose |
yeah... there was some strangeness going on with the whole mp3 licensing thing. i think redhat just removed it to cover their backside, even though they probably didn't need to. you can download the mp3 codec from www.xmms.org if you don't have it yet.

I guess I wont get Red Hat. I have always been a Mandy gal anyway. but now I wont promote Red Hat any longer.
Whether they took it out to cover their behinds or not... it was not really needed, since Windows and Apple havent taken it out, and they would be the first targeted. |
eh -- redhat is fine -- you just gotta install the codecs and whatnot...
then everything works... I'll tell you one thing tho... i don't care what they say -- the ESS 1869 intergrated sound card on a compaq presario don't work... even though they claim it is supported! So, i bought me a Sound Blaster off ebay for 10 bucks.. problem solved... :P lol take care |
i cant seem to find a mp3 codec. is it included when you download xmms ???
help thankyou flynn handley |
I thought it was stupid. I don't even really understand it. I take it that the .mp3 form is illegal somehow? Or is this a cousin of the riaa stuff? Or RedHat is really just loosing it?
