Monitor refresh rate question

Anyone know much about refresh rates? Higher is better right?
I just reset both Linux and XP from 60 to 75 hz.
I just had to buy a new monitor cuz my other one started to color flicker and it was really annoying.

higher is better...but dont set it too high or you could screw things up. Lower refresh rates show more flicker..could make you dizzy too

Cool, I have it at 75 for both Linux and XP and when I went up from 60 the response time of the gui seems to have improved and while gaming also.

And of course, if you got a TFT monitor then the refresh rate doesn't really matter because those screens don't flicker anyway.
