Modem really freaking out!

I am possibly being hacked on my linux system. After about an hour on my linux box, my DSL modem starts to really freak out like the link light goes out and then blinks wildly and it has never done that and the activitly light blinks wildly while just sitting not doing anything. I did a test and I only does this with linux box not windows system. I left my windows system on for 4 hours several times and it never did this but it does it every time on the Linux box after about an hour.

a blinking light is not any kind of waarning....

next time it does this, run netstat to see if any network connections are in progress.
post the output here, im sure some1 will make sence of it for you.

also, if you are worrked, get knoppix live cd, boot it, mount your linux hard disk as /mnt/root and run chkrootkit --root=/mnt/root this check to see if your box has been hacked.

Oh, you just reminded me I have one of those chkroot programs, lol. Thanks ill post anything if need be.
