Microsoft - Thought Thieves

Quote:
Thought Thieves is about people stealing and profiting from your creation or innovation. Think about it: how would you feel if you saw your hard work being passed off as the property of someone else? What would you do?

We want to know!

Send us your short film on intellectual property theft by 1st July 2005 for your chance to win Ģ2,000 worth of film and video equipment vouchers. And finalists will be invited to attend a special screening of their films and presentation ceremony in London.

Yup, sounds double-plus ungood to me, too

I other words, MS hates having people taking their "Intellectual Property", but they demand that you give yours to them to be in their silly contest... hmm... looks like a raw deal to me

Considering how micro$oft got started, it's pretty funny they'd be leading the fight for "Intellectual Property Rights". LOL

Is kinda like a band of thieves campaigning for law and order. They're just looking for some good FUD material.

Indeed. Their entire strategy is copy competitors, overtake, and crush them. Nothing innovative, just clone the product and then leverage their massive marketing power to force everyone else out.

Anyone remember when VisiCorp, Lotus, WordPerfect, Novell, and GO Corporation led in their respective markets?

If you want to read a really good book about this and other aspects of Microsoft's history, I highly recommend Barbarians Led by Bill Gates: Microsoft from the Inside , by Jennifer Edstrom and Marlin Eller. It's a few years old (1998), but it provides an interesting perspective on Gates & Co.'s rise to power.
