I'm certainly no fan of WP8 but that's a good commercial.

It is rather funny. Windows fans are just as bad as fans of Apple and Google though -- there are just fewer of them.
I've never understood being a fan of an entity designed to take your money with the least effort and give it to shareholders.

Well, ya gotta do something when you've become an also-ran and you're headed towards irrelevancy.

All of these companies are just wasting money on advertisements like that.

I wouldn't say that -- I've met plenty of people who still talk about whether they're "...a Mac or a PC." and the hipster-teasing "'I'm Artistic...' 'Dude, you're a barista...'" Samsung adverts caused a lot of chatter on the web no doubt prompting some sales.

Same here.

Microsoft is jealous with envy because android and apple are the majority in the mobile market sphere whereas windows is now the minority.

In the mobile space, Microsoft has NEVER had any REAL market share. They've always tried to adapt their desktop OS to the mobile market previously, which never worked.

Now they've went the other way, and the WP8 is VERY good to use (ugly as all get out), but now they're trying to adapt their mobile OS to the desktop (W8).

I don't think they've figured out that phones and desktops are very different hardware even if they can be used for the same thing, and most of us DON'T want the same os on both.

I have never understood the idea that users must have the same interface on phones as on tablets and computers or they will short-circuit.

At its heart is the assumption that users are inherently stupid.
