MicroSoft playing catchup on the back foot

This article indicates that M$ is really on the back foot and struggling to keep up in the big league. If the desktop users increase they really are going to be struggling.

They can't keep up with either Linux or Apple. The release cycle of MS is to slow these days and they apparantly have a hard time getting in new features into Longwait.

Now they're trying getting mediocre software into the server market (spyware scanning apps on a server???), so everyone should enjoy the show on how MS, the almighty, rich company, is losing face (and some few percentage of the market).

It will work against them if they keep relying on antivirus and antispyware to fix their problems. It shows too clearly they can't fix the operating system.

I think you're over-estimating the bulk of Windows users. To most of them, viruses and malware are just a natural part of using a computer: They aren't aware that they're something other OS's are almost entirely exempt from.

oneandoneis2 > you're right, most users don't even know what a virus really is, but I do hope that whoever runs a server knows better.
