Microsoft is trying to push users to the Edge LOL

I came across this article on how microsoft warns users not to use google chrome and Firefox over the Edge Browser.

Although apparently from another article I've read, they've already pulled this (for now) due to all the criticism.

I wonder how many people who are annoyed by that have decided to use Chrome because Google keeps saying "PLEASE TRY CHROME" on most of its websites if you don't ...

And that one too.

mickeysoft didn't get where they are by building a better mousetrap. They begged, borrowed or stole just about everything they ever did. billy and company were/are totally without ethics of any kind.

After struggling to get an on-line class to work on my wife's computer, I finally resorted to uninstalling Edge entirely. I should probably check to see if the last update put it back.

DOS ain't done 'til Lotus won't run...

I try not to take the mickey out of Microsoft as much as I used to, but they don't go out of their way to make it easy for me, especially with some of the ads I've seen lately. To be fair they have helped me at w*rk in recent years, and I'm still grateful to them for Outlook Express - the program that finally convinced me to try Linux.

I wouldn't be surprised if MS did search engine recommendations in the future.

If you type google.com, duckduckgo.com or whatever, Ms would beg you to use bing.com.

PLEASE USE BING.COM

It's still very much around, it has just evolved (not necessarily for the better).

But I draw more parallels with the old Windows 98 IE bundling fiasco. Despite all of the lawsuits, very little changed. I was recently doing some searching online, on an unrelated subject, but came up with an MS support / help desk site where it was advised that MS IE is part of either Windows 7 or 8 and can't be easily or safely removed...

And edge has quite simply not proliferated for a number of reasons, two of which are that there are better alternatives and of course that it is Windows 10 specific.

IE had so many security holes in those early days of windows which gave IE a bad reputation as being an unsafe browser to use. And many moved to Firefox, liked it and stuck with it.

Today, I don't know IF IE is better or worse than before as I don't use it.
