Michael Moore's new film "Sicko"

In case no one noticed or cared Michael Moore is making a new movie about the US healthcare industry. its been reported that his film crews are in philadelphia (where I live) and is currently hiring actors to play the parts of pharma company sales reps at doctor offices.

personally I think he could have found some much more shinign examples of US healthcare then Philadelphia but jefferson, university of penn, and Temple all have highly rated Health care services. However I am sure we shall not see any of that in his film.

I refuse to consider this film as a documentary since its clearly going to be full of lies.

I also thought there was another film witht he name sicko before so that would be itneresting to see if the name gets to stay the same. I think his next film should be on how manipulative the american media outlets are.....

Anyways discuss :-p

You're thinking of Al Franken aren't you? Fox sued him over the title of his book, which had "Fair And Balanced" in its title. They lost.

The film I was thinking about was Outfoxed; I haven't heard of any lawsuits related to it.

Well nuka_t, have you ever considered that there might be conservatives posting here and they may not appreciate you referring to them as you did, In any case profanity like that should not be tolerated here. Its ok to have strong opinions but maybe you should pronounce them in a less offensive manner.

moore exploits unfortunate situations to make money, behind the facade of 'documentries.' he wont do one on media outlets because he is on and they give him a voice to make money with his 'documentries.' Interesting to hear this since im from philly...

Ummmm....I'm not going to bother asking how you know this, since you've already donned your blinders.

He said "conservative *ssh*les". This is not saying all conservatives are *ssh*les, only that these particular *ssh*les are conservative.

well i think he obviously took the recent history and applied it. i guess you know it wont be full of lies? takes blinders to refuse to find out wether he is lying or not. if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....

I personally like Michael Moore. He says what he wants and thinks. Good for him. And Im glad he's making a movie about the healthcare system and how its not very good. I know first hand. I have a rare disease. Try getting healthcare when they give you those questionaires before they decide if they want to insure you or not.
much love,
nikki

yeah, i think one of his main problems is that he markets his works as documentaries...

it would be great if he just marketed them as films, or movies, which is what they are... but doing so would kill the controversy, and then he wouldn't make so much money...

anyway, i'm eager to see "Fahrenhype 9/11", which will be released in two days... it looks interesting (from what i've seen on the trailer)...

Michael Moore's films are actually polemics rather than documentaries. He makes them because he has a point he wants to make rather than a dispassionate examination of the issues, which is what a true documentary would be.

Even in documentaries there will always be some bias or manipulation to show some particular point. If you don't like the bias, then don't watch it. There will be others who are biased the other way. Michael Moore is currently accepted well internationally as many in the world are having a problem with US policy. Some in the US like him, some don't.

But he has everyone talking and arguing the points, and so he succeeded in what he was trying to due. The arguments here are proof of that.

So even those who are arguing how wrong he is are still influenced by him and he'd be happy about that

People like michael moore, Rush limbaugh, Al Franken and Sean Hannity are only preaching to the choir. The probem I have with extremists like them is that they do influence people who are undecided and gullible and when they hear one of these exremists partisans spout theyre crap they believe it, Theres no problem with freedom of speech there is a problem with freedom of being brainless.
