I have a few of their albums (SSOGE), but this one is new for me. I really should get more of their music!

For another obscure band.

Long Winters' Stare - Blood of Steel

Just discovered this. thread, thanks! I have been listening to metal since the 70's, Black Sabbath being my first and still a favorite, but only their early stuff: first album, paranoid and masters of reality. I have branched out considerably and currently Behemoth is one of my favorites. Will check out the bands in the OP's first post.

I love that metal is so "underground" but the community welcomes anyone that likes it. Fits in with my rebellious nature

I've tried to get into them, particularly seeing as they've viking metal, but I just haven't been successful yet. Apparently Blot is their best but it just doesn't do it for me, I'll have to read up on them and try again.

Meanwhile, it doesn't look like my request for a black Christmas tree is going to be honoured at work. Time for this again, I suppose:

I've added what I can to the list, still a bit of stuff I haven't got round to hearing yet, but will do.

Here is a recent release that I am currently hooked on, goes to show that original metal can still be made today.

I forgot - Jinjer is really good. Ukranian band, female lead and she can growl really well but switches back and forth between growl and a great voice. Their bassist is also very good - you can actually hear him without it being overwhelming.

This is an absolutely dreadful name for a metal band. For some reason they kept on appearing in my Youtube recommendations so I just ignored them, like anything that's relentlessly pushed on me for tenuous reasons. The vocalist looked good in the stills though, I have to admit [which I also took to be clickbait].

Well, I like them and the lead female is a hottie, at least I think so. Agree the name is odd.

Symphony X - A Fool's Paradise off the masterwork that is "V".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8BFryIKBpk

This is as close to power metal as I get, but it's absolutely stellar.

Playlist has been updated, let me know if I missed anything. Still a lot to catch up on, but there will be ample time over Xmas for that...

Yeah, that's fair'nuff. Not everything they made is extraordinary, some tracks are straight up cheesy with cliche stock sound effects, etc, but they still somehow meet a part of my overall tastes.

Just like Cryptopsy, I like only a few songs of them but I would still cite them as an overall band I enjoy. I don't consider them bad, not super good either, but since I REALLY like some of their tracks, I would recommend them.
Maybe I shouldn't if I like less than half of their stuff, but...I'd still recommend them, heh.

Sepultura - Mass Hypnosis (from "Beneath the Remains")

Remaster was really good, I have bought that CD. Not linking the tube or anything, but it's probably easy to find because it's classic.
