Okay, what language is it?

*checks Wikipedia for language support*

Hmmm, it's not Hebrew; that renders correctly for me.

Not any East Asian language either.

Well, I'm stumped...and quite surprised at what does render for me. O_o

Mol_Bolom 12-24-2009 03:21 PM

U+13A0 -> U+13F4
Cherokee : Ulihelisdi danisdayohihv ale itse eti...
English : Merry Christmas and New Year...

Strange. I've had support for it before I installed any other fonts. Must be your distro...:p...

Yeah, I suppose Ubuntu can't have everything, LOL :)

smeezekitty 12-24-2009 04:10 PM

In Ubuntu, it is a bunch of black blocks.

Happy hollidays! :)

XavierP 12-24-2009 05:52 PM

Kubuntu sees it too. I spotted that it was Cherokee immediately..... And then was beaten to it. Next time :)

Merry Christmas each. Official Christmas starts in 8 minutes.

I can see it now! I installed the "ttf-lg-aboriginal" package from the repos, so now I have (somewhat useless) Native American language font support...yay! :D

FredGSanford 12-24-2009 06:46 PM

I hope everyone have a happy Christmas, hannukah and kwanzaa...and have a safe New year!

Merry Crimbo

newbiesforever 12-25-2009 12:06 PM

I applaud everyone who was brave enough to say Merry Christmas despite the risk of being labeled hateful, politically incorrect, etc. and possibly receiving verbal abuse.

Oh wait, Merry Christmas!

cantab 12-25-2009 05:47 PM

Merry Christmas!

And so that weird-looking language was Cherokee? It displayed fine on my system, Arch Linux. I thought it was an asian language, like Gujerati or something.

Actually, this is Gujarati: ગુજરાતી :D

Gujarati word for itself ("Gujǎrātī"). Borrowed from Wikipedia :p
