LQ user travel guide
I guess this was not done before(ok i was going to do this in previous topic but i can't add second poll there) so might aswell do it as new. No harm done.
Idea is to talk about tourism ideas or location change movement tips(like your current location for others) for various reasons and purposes(like new job search). Sure we can ask travel companies or search but where is fun and truth in that? They tend to prank real situation for money and it takes ages to find anything trustworthy. Other discussions show that people are responsive enough for such talk. Basically let's discuss why people should go or not go to any location on Earth like for example this article tells us why Florida is not a good choice to be but they can be wrong too. Just need talk more about it with people who know it better. |
I'm an American and live in Germany..
Unless you have a super special skill you will not get a work permit without some tie to the country. If I were young and single I'd head to Australia, good climate and good folks from the people I've met. If I were to get divorced tomorrow which for the last few months seemed a real possibility (which has fortunately mostly passed) I'd head to Alaska. |
Voted "other" for New Zealand. Because it's what Australia could be with just a little work.

I shouldn't vote because I have only been to North America locations, or the Carribean.
I'd like to visit the nice parts of all the world, and can live without experiencing the cesspools. I can't see that article about hating Florida. I've traveled there, lived there. It's fine by me. It's all what you make of it. I've found that people who have a bad experience sometimes retain their viewpoint forever, and continue to tell everyone their opinions. I've also found that some people also want to be miserable jerks, they are never pleased. Hey, drop me at the beach. Give me food and drink from time to time. I'm good! In fact I don't even care if it's cold, I've sat at beaches just to be on the sand and listening to the ocean. Great place to take in a good book! :) |
I voted for Europe, and hopefully I get the chance to live and work there one day.

Also, apparently there's a provision in our constitution to make NZ a state of Australia (but I can understand why NZ wouldn't be too keen on that idea tho). @RT, if you like beaches, this country a plenty of them to go round, I'll put ya up if ya want (but you'll have to pay for your air fair tho). ;) |

Hey fido!
Hopefully The Netherlands, they actually believe in freedom, unlike our country. Their constitution from what I understand even guarantees it - unlike ours, which is really just a agreement between the states and the British government. And more to the point; with our nanny-state politicians and laws, it's more like an elected dictatorship here. Not to mention our dumbass government's (state and federal), they can go and get fu*ked. Can't say I ever heard of "South Irian Jaya" before, we learn something new every day! |

I'm convinced Pratchett had the right idea about how to treat them. |
I'm surprised we even have any bar left at all... how lower can they go ?

Bangkok for all the hot ladies!

*"Professional" as in that's what they do fo a living, not as in "competent" or "ethical". **For a maximum of two three year terms. ***We (as a society) are happy to let randomly**** chosen people decide on the future of accused individuals (for the good of society). ****Volunteering should lead to disqualification. |
I vote for Europe as, having worked in civil air traffic for much too long, I do not see the results that free travel should have produced in all this century and thus, oppose it as an utterly useless waste of resources. People are not ready for it.
If you prefer reading in the other direction, I am lacking books about most possible destinations. We have a village at about 6km from here and no reason to ever go there. Looking in the direction, I only see a beautiful hilly and densely wooded landscape. It must be a mythical place, I imagine. Some day, some day... |
TOTALLY AGREE fido!!!
Personally, I'd go one step further, and have a system where it's the people that vote on what laws we have, and the REAL experts run the services FOR the people, and NOT for profit - the politicians can just organise the meetings/sittings for the people to decide. There already are similar systems in operation at a local level in places like the US. It's time for the "professional politicians/ass*oles" to go, and be replaced by the people! |
You kill the thread, or we do. That's okay with me, too.

Has anyone been from here to Hawaii? How is it there? |

Not sure what they charge now. Voted Australia. It is no brainer for me since I like heat, ride motorcycles, and know a bunch of scooter folk over there willing to put up with me. |
