I am looking for a host to place a small blog in. Basically i am looking for "Geocities", but one that is expected to last and not close tomorrow

I want :

HTML + CSS + Downloadable files. Dont need any server-side in the close future

$0

No or absolute minimum non-obtrusive ads

Stable (see above)

Short domain name, or support for external free domains (co.cc and the like)

Few hundred MB / few GB storage

Decent bandwidth (for a small blog that hosts downloadable stuff around 5-20 MB each file)

No hyperactive take-down-everything policy (I dont plan to infringe copyrights there, but do plan stuff like "guides for dangerous stuff with live electricity")



Have suggestions ?

The biggest blog hosting sites I can think of off the top of my head are Blogger and WordPress. Have you looked into these?

I can't think of a site that will host somebody else's site for free--without advertising.
