not bad...its all about how it works though not what it looks like

the main issue Microsoft is facing right now is security. How secure will this new OS be? Even if they do put more emphasis on security there will be people who will stop at nothing to exploit any holes in the OS and MS knows that and as a result I think it will be even more of a handcuffed system than ever before. This might be a good thing for average PC users but not for powerusers. I could be wrong though.

Eh, I like OSX better.

It is still in its blues ;-)
Still not in comparison to Linux :-)

cheers!

I have a feeling this will be a very good...........cough, cough

GAMING OS!

Seems like they are borrowing ideas from Apple again. As you move over Longhorns icons they appear bigger (hmmm wonder where that came from). I do like the 3D graphics layer (Avalon) but it will require alot of muscle from your PC. They will offer a classic version for those with not enough min requirements to run the full blown version. Hmmmm people are waiting 2 more years for Windows OSX....hehehehe

frieza 06-22-2004 11:05 PM

yeah.. but windows still doesn't do something that linux and even the apple IIGS did... and that is let you allow/dissalow duplicate files to be copied over individually...

I gotta admit it looks nice. I think the resolution/size of things is a bit out of whack though.

macskeeball 06-23-2004 01:13 PM

These screenshots are absolutely disgusting.

Donboy 06-23-2004 01:39 PM

I nearly laughed myself hysterical on this one...

I guess this is a preview of coming attractions.

lol

SciYro 06-23-2004 09:48 PM

looks like they based there longhorn on win95's explorer.exe (with a new graphical exceptions)

pkid 06-26-2004 06:52 AM

It looks...okay. I still feel that my dropline GNOME desktop is better. I am sure that there will be about 1000 security holes found in Lognhorn during the first week that it is out. MS always crams features into their products at the expense of security. Look at Windows XP - it was supposed to be so much more secure because it is based on NT but it has turned out to be the worst of the lot. I hate them so much and want Linux to win!

Just a comment on the Project Looking Glass link that was posted as part of this thread: AMAZING!
