You know what M$ problem is? They have so much staff, but nothing for them to do;). Anyways, I think win 98SE was the best of all the releases M$ has had, they just add more junk to it, and now they have this wonderful creation called Vista... BTW, will that be "M$ Vista Windows" or "M$ Windows Vista"? Hasta la Vista baby!... |

http://www.bb4win.org/news.php Works just as well. Now, excuse me KDE lovers (I know you are not), but I'd choose Windows interface anytime over KDE. KDE just has to be the prettiest and slowest environment I've ever used. I'd always choose performance and stability over eye-candy, and eye-candy, instability and slowness is what KDE is all about. It feels more stable then Gnome, however... Quote:

It might be more accurate to say that Apple, and certainly Linux, can do it faster. It simply does not work for Microsoft to put out a press-release, "X" years ahead of time, and promise people "how good it's going to be" and expect them to actually sit and wait for it.
Either:
|
That's the crazy part, people will wait for it.
And the American people are the idiots that will wait and pay for WindowsXP release pack 3, because Vista will still be The NTFS filesystem that is WindowsXP. Jim |

I was always more of a Win2kPro person too.
As for virtual desktops, MS has a tool that will do that. See Windows XP Power Toys. |
Sadly, VirtuaWin can't install on my work PC, and the "Windows Power Toy" is just a joke. . . Ah well, maybe Vista will have decent virtual desktops :)
|
I like the new name, it sums everything up nice:
Viri, Instability, Spyware, Trojans & Ads. But we'll see, the wait was long enough for Microsoft to develop something decent, so personally, I'm quite curious to see how much new toys it has. |
None. They all got delayed, or are being rolled back to XP.
Sad, isn't it? Love the Vista-as-acronym tho ;) |
I have witnessed three degrees of separation between the Win OSes mentioned in this thread:
Win98, crufty->WinXP, crappy I don't expect this to change any time soon, even if longhorns are on the vista. |

About the virtual desktops : oneandoneis2, if you have an nVidia graphics card, I believe it's possible to have multiple desktops using the software that's included with their drivers ... |
