There are a number of similar stories out there. The Linux community, afaik, isn't that worried - SCO had their own version of Linux which means that their case is a little weakened since they must have known about this before.
This is really another FUD case - and is probably there just to raise money for SCO.

I tried to commend on the article on this site. But since I didnt had an id in this site,i was not able to do that.I tried tio create a new id,but it doesnt seem to work.If someone who has an ID in rediff.com reads this thread, please copy and paste what I have written below.

GCC is among the best and the most powerfull among the compilers available. It supports full ANSI standards including STL.
In the Windows world, you buy a "packaged deal" as far as applications and development tools. You get the compiler, base libraries (e.g.,MSVCxx.DLL), widget (GUI) libraries (e.g., VCL), and integrated development environment (IDE) in one product. E.g.,Microsoft VisualStudio or Borland Builder products.
In the non-Windows world, most operating systems usually come with both the compiler (GCC) and base libraries (GLibC). From there, you choose any additional libraries, including a massive array of widget libraries (e.g., GTK+, Qt, FLTK, ParaGUI, etc...), and development tools that vary from simple editors and GUI creators to full IDEs (e.g., KDevelop). There are so many choices, which can overwhelm most people new to the non-Windows world of development.
Yes Linux and GNU is about choices.you are free to choose what you want.MOst people in India may not feel that 'GNU stuff is freely downloadable and therefore is good' cos most Indians (icludes me also)use pirated software. Also, the GNU free software doesnot refer to price, but to freedom.

A short and concise article on the topic of "free" software is attached to this posting...
The key word here is "free" and the author does a good job of clarifying this.
