Mate, if you have no idea don't bother asking :)
An there's a whole heap of threads comparing
the two, discussing Linux' advantages already.
Btw, the subject line is a rather stupid choice.
Cheers,
Tink

Let's see how many post can be squeezed in before it gets moved to general. You need to work to counter his arguments. One man's meat is another's poison.

Certainly different from what I expected. Don't even bother it is a waste of your time and effort most times it is impossible to change a wintroll's mind just never miss an opportunity to remind him when he goes on about the next virus/exploit/bsod/bug that will never be fixed/costly hardware-software upgrade/..... that comes down the pike that it usually never happens with linux.

As those more knowledgable than I have said,
he's wasting your time. Spend it doing something
more constructive, like learning more about Linux,
so later on if he comes up with something more
intelligent than your thread title, you'll have an
answer that's based upon your knowledge.

Linux has forever changed my perception of computers... My time with MS OS's was spent in fire control - this doesnt work, and how can I get around that, and blah blah blah. And at the end of that I still dont know much about how windows really works.
Too much is hidden, attributed to the magical machinations of those in the know. If you cant see your god how do you know he exists? There's nothing magical or mystical about computers, it all boils down to human creation.
Linux is a haven for those who 'wish to know' - rock on.

I don't discuss such debates with simple minded clueless people. That's what you should tell him. If he just thinks it sucks without a reason, then don't bother with your time.
Its like our stupid 19 year old intern we have at work who is absolutely lazy and useless but that's another story. We found out he loves Bush but hates Kerry, simply cause Kerry sucks. No other reason except his dad voted and follows Bush...
I just laughed at him and walked off at that point.
My two cents..

This isn't one of those "I have a friend that has a problem" questions and then it really turns out to be you?
....Anyway
If you run linux why don't you just sit him down at your computer and let him explore the different programs you have installed.
Or you could just give him this link....
http://www.euronet.nl/users/frankvw/...t/IhateMS.html
It's rather lengthy but there are some funny sections and the person who wrote it does seem to know what he's talking about.

You can never really *convert* anybody to Linux. Unless they discover Linux and its benefits on their own, they're never going to use it. I have had plenty of experience in this.
Forget convincing your friend... never works.

I'd say lets not go there. Lets keep from telling others to send virii as that is not the solution and won't ever be.
