Well, welcome to some time back http://xbox-linux.sourceforge.net/
Linux community jumped on XBox bangwagon as soon as it became available, and why should you get a break?
I am going to training next month and GlobalKnowledge ( http://www.globalknowledge.com ) has a pomotion for students - for each advanced class - a PlayStation2, XBox, or wireless router, since I got my PS2 when I joined speakeasy as their DSL subscriber, I'll get myself XBox and the router since I am planning on taking two clases in Cisco Networking Devices category. My PS2 has never seen linux though, I still have no time to play anyway.

Or we could all buy PS2 's instead of Xbox's!!

Seriously if you are looking for a cheap box to put linux on go buy one of those walmart boxes they featured in LJ a couple months back. Its about the same price.

..i already have a ps2 ...too much extra stuff to buy, xbox is all in one good to go...

and walmart sucks

i'm not really looking for a 'cheap' box, just something to play with...i'm trying to port slackware to the xbox ...who knows maybe i'll actually learn something, i have great confidence that slack will come to X ..i doubt it will be by me, but hell it's fun to try eh?

Hey, that's pretty cool, jhorvath. Would be a nice project to work on.

I think that's an excellent and easy P3 celeron Alternitive, to some extent. At least for tinkering. : ) Theres always fun in that, I find.
