I am not interested in registering my own domain yet (mostly because I am not creative enough to think of one that I will be happy with for longer than a week), so I have one of those free redirects that is at myaccount.someonesdomain.com

For my use, those are perfect. I am just wondering if anyone knows of any free domain redirects like that which are linux oriented such as:
servedbylinux.com
poweredbylinux.com
mylinuxbox.com
mylinuxserver.com
etc.

I noticed that servedbylinux.com is actually available, so I might make my own redirect site like that. Do you need to have any permission to use the name "Linux"? What about if you were to make money off of a site with the name "Linux" in the domain?

Linux is a registered trademark of Linus Torvalds. As long as you make sure to tell people that, you should be fine. Linus isn't exactly a sue happy money grubbing type person. If you really want to be sure you can just e-mail him and ask. He probably won't respond unless you put something in the Subject line that'll catch is eye... I am sure he gets thousands of e-mails.

BTW.... if you check the kernel change logs or the kernel mailing list archives I am sure you can figure out what his e-mail address is...
