Linux members, unit!

Hello. I am looking for some people who would be interested in helping me with a Linux website for people who are brand new to the OS. I have only been using Linux for about two weeks, and I love it, and I want to spread the word and the philosophy of the open source community! I want to share this vast span of knowledge that many of you share, and I want to make it easily assessable to the general public. I have created many websites, all of them looking really good and easy to navigate, but they were all lacking in point; and this is now my ambition. I need some people to help me with questions that I have that I can post on the site. I want to create a few teams of people who use and have used the various versions of Linux throughout the years. I have my own domain and I run my own server. Since Linux is free I plan on distributing it on my site as well, including the newer versions of Redhat and Mandrake. If you are interested in joining the LinuxMilitia please post here, or if you like the idea. Depending on the feedback, I will post more info soon.:newbie:

Umm, I'd use my efforts for a different cause. There are plenty of "linux is great" sites. And there are plenty of linux help sites...including this one :-P. If you want to help linux, learn to program and improve software....or if you are programmically challenged, create XCursors or icon suites or anything. There are
plenty of things we need help with, other than "woohoo for linux" sites. Although we are glad you are so enthused :-P.

Just one thing to point out...you mentioned providing linux distros on your site? Providing distros, which are huge, on your site will quickly plug up any decent connection, and will also quickly max out your traffic limit with your provider (if you have one).

Bah. Hmmm... I have spent hours and hours trying to figure out how to install a single program, and I finally found it after going through about five hundred different sites. I want to provide and compile simple and easy to understand information about Linux for beginers, and I need help. I just need a person or two. This is a service to people like me who come from the horrible sheltered world of Windows who can just click on the .exe and the program is installed automaticly. And it's not going to be a "woohoo" for Linux site. I am planning on offering advantages and disadvanteges of using Linux compared to Windows. I want to help people help people.

I assume you mean "Linux members, unite!" and not unit.

Not to rain on your parade, but jinksys has some good points. I've seen the 500+ sites devoted to "helping newbies from the world of Windows...", and adding one more to the mix won't make one bit of difference. Working with a good existing site, like LinuxQuestions, would be a far more beneficial use of your time and energy. In fact, in so doing you would be helping to unite linux users, rather than splinter them.

Moved: More suitable in General for recruiting members for open source type projects, etc for these types of discussions that aren't technical type linux questions. Regards.

You mean like this exact site you're posting on? :D

or maybe this one or this one?

Not trying to be smart*ss (well ok, maybe I am) but I think a few people beat you to it. You say yourself you're new at linux. Its great that you love it, but there are plenty of ways you can help out in many places which (in my opinion here) would be more meaningful than another "linux is awesome" site...unless its a really really really really cool and awesome and original "linux is awesome" site...(when you think about this, keep in mind that most newbies who come here think its really cool and original to start at thread like "which is the best linux distro?" or "why is linux better than windows?" and never imagine its been asked before)

I'd have to agree. We currently have LinuxAnswers in which we need more and great tutorials/howto's added. Anyone who wants to contribute is more than welcome to write and add, etc.
