Talking Linux Addiction...

I do not know if there's going to be a medical definition for it, much less a cure, but I cannot remember a time when all I wanted to do was stay home and tweak the living blazes out of my Linux setup....

I still have Micro$oft WinBlows 2000 and WinDoze 98 on my systerm but space allocation, much less usage, is getting less and less and less. Infact, I cannot remember the last time I spent any quality time on either of those except 98 to play StarCraft which the latest WineX seems to be having problems over... oh well!

Still does not change the fact that I have things to do, and yet I sit here looking for more things to tweak and discover with my lovely lovely Linux.... he he he!

How about you? Is it at addiction levels yet?

Tell us about it! (and maybe post a screenshot)

For those who aren't aware, we have an ongoing Screenshot thread here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=26643
So there is no reason we need to turn this one into another one. So post your screenshots there please.

Also, I'm not addicted to Linux, I just get paid to work with it on a daily basis nowadays as a System Administrator.

Similar to Tricky ...
I get paid to spend about 9 times a day with Linux
(that's the theory, anyway) but I also prefer it as my
personal desktop and server OS. I don't show symptoms
of sleep-deprivation due to Linux use, and I don't spend
days tweaking my machines, they just go as they are,
and do what I need.

I would have wished for something between
Quote:
Everyday, at least 1/2 the day!
All day, All week (short of sleep deprivation)
... 9 to 12 hours a day, and use, not pottering.

Cheers,
Tink

I may be one of them

That for an hour once a month vote was me. I keep swearing I'm going to spend more time in Linux and fix all the issues it has with my laptop but I don't have time to spend countless hours reading only to forget it anyway, try to make it work..etc. I need things to just work, I can tweak as needed later. Also all the software I need/use is in Windows. Still I log into it every so often and see what I can remember, see if I can get something else to work and/or see if there is finally a decent clone of the software I need.

It's been this way for years and probably won't change anytime soon.

I don't like to think I am but I haven't really used Windows in about 3 months. Also, I wanted to install another copy of Gentoo from stage 1 with some different options but I couldn't because it would take days in which I would go through withdrawl, but now with linux on my laptop I can. I would say everyday quite a few hours. When you say half of the day do you mean 12 hours or half of our waking hours?

I guess i could have specified 0-6 & 6-12 hours, but when you think about it, as you've phrased the question, it works in either case. If 0to6 hours is 1/2 a day to you then thats correct, but also, if 6to12 hours is 1/2 a day to you, then thats also correct!

Everything is relative in this Universe.... there's room enough for even your opinion!

Hey dude, Starcraft works almost flawlessly for me on Linux. There are two annoying things I know about it:
- The battle net interface is all screwed up, but I still can join and create games. I found a while ago the bnet interface was a bit better with winehq.
- I find the game a bit slow.

You got me curious about Starcraft, perhaps if I tried to run it with an earlier version of Wine. I like how the latest Wine has broken down the directories. I'm sure the cdrom is just an oversight.

However, WTF am i wasting time playing that crappy game for. Damn it, we should be developing our own really cool games of said nature, something that would work alot better under Open-GL....

Incidently, where would I go for good some open-source open-gl games ?
