View Poll Results: Facorite large harddrive based mp3 player
Very cool player, firmware upgradeable, works in any OS, and shows up as a hard drive in windows, so you don't need any special software to use it, I find this really handy for transferring file to and from uni, and using the uni's high speed line to download linux isos in 60 seconds
Unfortunately, they didn't market it all that much, which is why loads of people haven't heard of it.
Im not sure whether or not this problem exists with linux, as I have yet to test my girlfriends Ipod on my picturebook, but with the ipod you can't take music off of it without a hack. On the other hand it is A BILLION times more polished than any other mp3 player out there on the market. And when I say a billion I mean it.
Rockbox is working on some firmware for the iRiver hard-drive players. I used Rockbox firmware in my Archos player and it is much improved over the factory installed firmware. It's a open-source project too!
My fav is the iRiver h-320. It has many features, some of them are ogg playback, recording, and a picture viewer.

*ditto*
i wouldnt even consider buying another mp3 player. i have the iriver flash-based and i love it. ive had it for 2 years and similiar mp3 players are still selling for the same price. however, i used the usb mass storage firmware for it, so i didnt have to use the crappy iriver software and i could transfer files at school.
Bought one 30 days after their web page came online, sometime in 2003, or early 2004. Wore the hard drive out Jan 2012. I figured out that it had about 45,000 hours of use, Twice the rated hours of the toshiba hard drive. The battery still lasted 6 to 8 hours.
Used in car and motorcycle. Almost never turned it off the last 5 years, just put on pause.
NO DOUBT THE BEST, LONGEST LASTING HARD DRIVE MP3 PLAYER EVER!
