Kubuntu installs to new SATA hard drive but Windows (XP or Vista) will not
I have been using Kubuntu for some months installed on Windows XP using Wubi. (As my PC is used by other members of my family I have to have Windows as the main operating system.)
I have just replaced the IDE Hard drive with a new SATA drive. When I tried to install Windows XP to the drive it apparently installed but XP would not run at all. I then borrowed a Vista disk and tried to install Home Premium. This actually booted but would not allow me to install any updates or programs.
I have now installed Kubuntu 8.10 on the drive. This is working perfectly. I now intend to attempt to create a dual boot Linux/Windows system but would be interested to know if anyone has any idea as to why Linux will install but Windows won't.

Thanks
