Kate Editor for Windows
I heard on the Sunday Morning Linux Review that KDE has released Kate for Windows.
I downloaded it and installed it to my Windows 7 VM. By default, the tabs are on top, where they belong. The download it 45MB and the installer makes you accept the GPL before you can install the program. I took a quick look at it; seems to have to full list of tools, highlighting, and encoding as Linux Kate. If you're running Windows, you might want to take a look at it. |
Are its text files compatible with Linux or Windows?

I just created a very small text file on Kate on Windows and popped it across the network to my Slackware machine. It opened without issue. I then copied a much more complex document that I wrote with vim to the Windows instance, and opened in Kate for Windows.
Based on this, my conclusions are positive, pending additional testing. By the way, excellent question. Thanks. |
Interesting - a quick way to create UNIX friendly text files as well then. Never have had the bandwidth and time to give the KDE Windows world a whirl (although I hear Plasma no longer supports Windows last I checked)
