Just finished a tour of Anne Frank's Annex\House in my Oculus Quest

Gripping story telling, unfortunately a true story...

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that in my Gear. Nice to see it's free as in root beer too.

Thumbs up

I can't afford the trip to Amsterdam anytime soon but this works quite well.

So, how many useful experiences - that would be non-mindless games - are available for VR these days ?. Surely it's time - and I see no reason to part with hard-earned as yet. Been a while since the tech emerged ...

There seem to be quite a few educational apps advertised, but I haven't tried any yet. I use it to "hang out" with friends in another country, we find that playing board games or exploring a cartoony landscape is more fun than staring at the walls (or each others' handsome mugs) while discussing the state of the world. I consider that useful as it's cheaper than multiple visits, but your mileage may well vary.

There are countless pretty good cinema apps for those that don't mind the low resolution, but none that let you easily watch a flick with a friend. I suspect the MAFIAA has something to do with that, since there are several ways to watch YouTube with groups of strangers.

I was upset to hear that the Oculus Quest discontinued allowing Steam games to play.
It is a nice setup being Wireless but so is the Oculus Rift correction I mean Oculus Gear VR and if you already have the right phone a lot cheaper...

They don't have a ton of games on their Oculus store yet but it's still fairly new. I read you can sideload some video games with developer mode enabled but I haven't tried this and I don't know if it's against their rules. It does leave me wanting more with a computer set up but then you're talking thousands.

My nephew got the Quest for his 16th birthday because he was hooked from VR World in New York on vacation. At the end of his birthday I got a chance to play with it, I then simply had to buy one! A friend of mine has the VR for PS4. I brought the Quest to work so he could check it out, he bought one the next weekend! Goes anywhere, I kinda want to take it out a lake so I can enjoy the fishing app with real waves.

My favorite so far is Superhot but the videos and other experiences are unreal as well. Never stand up in your living room on a roller-coaster, trust me and if you get the plank game have something to hang on to! Imagine a 360 degree video of you standing in the middle of a pack of lions, sky's the limit tho not really.

Also great potential for real world applications, I hear surgeons and FBI recruits use VR.
