I've got to confess I bought my first MS product today...

... an Internet Keyboard.

I like simple keyboards, no useless volume buttons and such, so this one is perfect for me. I bent a pin in the PS2 connector of my previous one.

My first bucks for the empire! MS makes sucky software, but this keyboard sure feels great.

You traitorous, sacrilegeous, hypocrite. Just Kidding. :p
I really like the MS Optical mice, until I found this kensington but the rubber on the side of the kensington fell off in like 2 weeks, Doh!. I am going to pickup another MS Optical mouse soon.

There's this new sticky stuff in the shops called glue ;)

I love their keyboards and mice. I also love my Sidewinder Force Feedback joystick and I found their games really good. Xbox is by far the very best console ever built, in my honest opinion (this statement usually leads to flamewars, but oh well, it's true, Xbox rocks).

My baby. I love this keyboard. And yeah, Xbox is fantastic, I subscribe to Xbox Live! as well which is another MS service that is well worth the money. I don't hate Microsoft at all, I just like Linux as an OS better :) I won't be buying an Xbox 360 until after I've tried a PS3 though, I don't want to make a decision on the Cell processor until I've tried it out myself.

Mega Man X 08-20-2005 09:08 AM

Your keyboard is very very nice cs-cam. I've bought a similar one once:

http://www.webhallen.com/prod.php?id=34683

while it looks nice, I could never get used to it :(. The RETURN key feels a bit too close for me and there's no space among the F-Keys or arrow-keys. I was always pressing something wrong at the wrong time and, since lately I'm gaming only, it makes things really difficult. I should give it another shot though :)

I won't be buying a next gen console until the prices drop considerably. I don't think I never bought a console on release date, or even 1 year after (I really am that cheap). I also prefer Linux as OS, but I kinda like Microsoft Windows too (and MS products in general)....

tuxdev 08-20-2005 09:57 AM

Yes, MS should really drop software and go make input devices. I absolutely love my Optical Intellimouse and Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick. To bad they will probably not do that...

Orkie 08-20-2005 10:12 AM

Do they actually make them themselves or do they just buy them and have their name put on?

slackwarebilly 08-20-2005 10:20 AM

hmmm.....

I like the force feedback joysticks but that's it..... (I hate the keyboards, too wierd for your hand.... like the XBOX controller :D)

I don't like the XBOX, I mean, it was a piece of crud, no offense. Hardware stank, contollers stank, titles stank, and most of all :D MS lost millions of dollars on it. And their saying they think the same is gonna happen w/ the 360. Heh heh.

Check out the Nintendo Revolutioin http://media.cube.ign.com/articles/6...08/imgs_1.html

this is only a few screens, but there are like 6 colors, and some pretty interesting stuff that some poeple said that saw it at E3. It's gonna rock off the 360's socks, and PS3 is not getting the best response from even PS fans.

Oh well,

heh heh :D

IBM for my keyboard, Logitech for all other input-devices here.
Never been different , save for a waterproof(industrial grade) Honeywell keyboard once.

J.W. 08-20-2005 12:12 PM

For keyboards, you cannot beat the IBM Model M The one Microsoft product that I admit I really, really like is the optical Intelimouse. It's hard to get all that worked up over a mouse, but given a choice, that's the one I'd use -- J.W.

Blinker_Fluid 08-20-2005 12:58 PM

Got to love my wireless optical MS mouse... (Got it for under $20 on sale):D

I disagree Billy. Nintendo right now is the company playing catch up. XBox had great titles and still has good ones coming out on par with the PS2. The setback will be the Revolution wont even play DVD's without support that is sold separately and it wont do anything higher than 480 progressive while the XBox 360 will 1080i and the PS3 1080i and 1080p. The great thing though is you can play any Nintendo game thats ever come out on the Revolution but hopefully they'll have something in store other than more high def Mario titles. My money is on the 360 and PS3.

Mega Man X 08-21-2005 01:29 AM

I agree with jaz in this one. Nintendo is far behind the other consoles. The thing with Nintendo is, they are the big brothers: They have the titles we all want to play, as Zelda and Mario. I don't even consider Gamecube directly competing against Sony PS2 or MS Xbox. The very same seems to apply to the new gen consoles...

I also prefer much more Xbox titles then PS2 titles. Unless you are a big fan of japanese anime/manga style RPG's, Xbox has better titles then PS2 all the way: Cooler RPG's as Knights of the Old Republic or Jade Empire. Xbox also smashes PS2 with FPS games and every game that is both available for PS2 and Xbox, has a considerably superior quality on the Xbox, such as GTA series, for example.

The controler is relative too: I'd choose the Xbox joypad any day over PS2 joypad for racing and shooters (top triggers are great) but PS2 joypad for fighting games (that I've lost interested a few years ago...)

Now, before we enter a discussion about Xbox Vs PS or other consoles, we have a thread going about "Do you think Xbox sucks", which has a lot of replies and nearly flamebaits, LOL.

They buy them from an OEM.

mipia 08-23-2005 02:56 AM

meh after the latest crop of console systems (PS2 XBox GCube and such). I dug out my sega genesis and left it at that.
I didn't like spending that much money on a system just to keep buying the same 4 or 5 games over and over again with different names and eye candy.

pevelius 08-23-2005 03:23 AM

if you talk about good keyboards, apple´s bluetooth keyboard is excellent. i use it along with logitech mx900 bluetooth mouse on my powerbook. the mouse works nicely with the hand support of my leisure chair (something like this )

trey85stang 08-23-2005 06:49 AM

I like MS Hardware, xbox included... A modded xbox is something no man should live without :D

Tell me about it. It's like the best media box ever. A modded Xbox with XBMC hooked up on a LAN is awesome :D. I wonder if the new Xbox 360 will allow the same "freedom" when modded :D

Seriously, it's good to have a Xbox even if you are not a gamer, just for the possibilities you can do with it: MP3 player, DVD player, DivX player, Online Radio. Heck, you can even put Linux on it if you want and use as a PC ;)

enine 08-23-2005 12:17 PM

Thats why I run laptops, don't have to buy a keybaord or mouse :)

Hobbletoe 08-23-2005 01:55 PM

Happy Hacker

This is the keyboard that I use at work.

Happy Hacker

I've had mine for a few years, and it works great. Leaves me plenty of desktop space too.

Don't use it at home because it isn't very game friendly, and my girlfriend wouldn't like it. But it is great at work unless you are one of those IT folk that come to mess with my PC. To make it even more friendly, I've switched it to a Dvorak layout as well.

phil.d.g 08-23-2005 03:17 PM

I like my microsoft multimedia keyboard, nice quiet key presses and soft to the touch, I also use a MS optical mouse.

I also have one of those IBM Model M jobbies, with a Dell logo and I don't particularly like it, its far too noisy keeps the whole neighbourhood up when I'm working at night, lol. At the minute my sister's using it since she poured her drink over her own.

stabile007 08-23-2005 05:16 PM

the best keyboard ever and the one I want.....

Das Keyboard

I'd love one of those too, but they are really expensive, and that's before shipping fees!
No way, I'll wait until they sell it cheaper or until I win the jackpot in Vegas.

Mega Man X 08-27-2005 02:21 AM

How about a wooden keyboard?

Wow, I wonder if that would cut my coding time by half... That does not include the heavy unavoidably long compile times of course. Is it the greatest revolution to the NetHack experience?

My wife has cerebral palsy, so she carries a frogpad around in her purse. Her brother uses one when he's scripting webpages so he can keep one hand on the mouse. I'm thinking about getting one too, if it'll support Linux.

Just a question, your articel has past some days.
I wonder if Frog-Pad is working with Linux now?

Actually i have nothing against MS keyboards/mice, since they are very comfortable to use and are well built.
Maybe they should move into hardware manufacturing instead.
