Sorry, but I have no idea what you're asking...

Do you want to know if it's worth becoming a linux expert? If so, the answer is "It depends..."

Whatever you decide to choose as a career path, you will want to improve your communication skills. Your highest priority should be dropping the kiddie speak.

Knowledge Is Good

Time spent learning is never wasted time. There will always be people that know more than you. Very soon after you've started learning, there will always be people that know less.

If you have the time, resources, and desire - I say go ahead, most assuredly worth it. At the very worst you will have lost nothing more than a little of your time.

Please put some effort into better communication. Even if you are dealing with english as a second language, you can be more specific.
"starting in this thing" does not tell us anything.
1. What is your background?
2. What are you considering starting?

I went back to your original guidelines to see if this was a proper grade. I'm afraid you may be right.

But reading between the lines, I felt some angst on the part of the OP and gave him the benefit of the doubt. But I can only imagine how garbled and unintelligible my postings would be if I had to do it in Russian - or Spanish or French for that matter.

I agree totally...
The principle that I follow is simply that communication is a two-way street. Each party has the obligation to establish a common ground. For example, I know enough French to ask a coherent question---the native speaker may well laugh at my abuse of the language, but they WILL understand me. In Russian, I would never attempt the communication.
I will ALWAYS try to help if I can even GUESS what the question is....

....I'll take a stab at it.
Since this is General Linux ...if you are asking is it worth it to dig into and learn Linux; my answer is a huge YES.

Please restate your question. As it stands now, your original post basically just indicates that you have some sort of concern about something or other, but your references to "this" and "this thing" are vague to the point of being incomprehensible. To say it another way, don't make the reader have to guess at what you're trying to say. Thanks.

In any case I've asked that this be moved to General, as it seems to have no connection to Linux.

Don't be scared away by any of this, even though it is true, no-one want's you to just give up posting. Take it from me, I've had a couple of these answers. Just try to use the best English you know, and present a comprehensible question, and people will try to give you some kind of answer.

there is no point in learning something you never plan to use. But should you need it, its better if you already know it.

Mate, wow, I feel for you, really I do. You sound all angsty over this thing. Maybe you should forget about this thing and concentrate more on that thing - I think that in the long run it will be far more rewarding. Look out for the acid though, that makes all things go bad.

Look, mate, LiverJournal is that way, stop off at General on your way there. 'Cos that's where your post is.

If you really want to learn this thing, I'm sure you can. Now, even if you plan to work with this thing in the future, don't be worried if there are many peoples out there who knows how to use this thing. The important thing is, whatever the thing you choose to learn, just make sure you are good at that thing. What the market today needs are more especiallists in a certain thing than general knowledge in this thing. Try to learn the inside outs of this thing.

Also, if you can take a class about this thing, do it. While you won't learn everything about this thing at the class, it's always good to have a teacher telling you about things you can or can't do.

Remember also: don't try to learn all this thing over a night. It may take a while until you get good enough at this thing to be able to apply for a job kind of thing.

I hope this helps. Good luck with the thing.

Best Things!

/Thingy

You're weighing a final ideal state that doesn't exist against the path that would take you there. Unless you enjoy every step it's gonna be hard. Don't trust your mind when it shows you the easy way of avoiding the pain. There must be a disposition to learn so it's neither hard nor easy but enjoyable most of the time.
