And you think windows is more reliable than Linux? And can you say why and which domains?

Maybe you should try OpenSolaris then. We have a SUN box (workstation) at work that's been up for a few years now. I can't remember exactly what the uptime was but it was in the region of the 700ish days mentioned earlier. If you found that to be unreliable then I think we could safely conclude that the problem's either hardware or chair/keyboard interface.

I really don't think you'll find anything that's 100% reliable on this planet. Try somewhere else.

Precisely the reason why I went back to the Windows! :) Linux |

If I don't know where to look, I rarely see Linux promoted. And I have never seen a claim that it is "drop-dead reliable". Friends; I think we're being trolled......... |

Well, I've experienced some of the things the OP says such as 'it always seems to fail on it's own without changing a thing on the system' 'programs stop working, internet connections fail' with many other distros, except Slackware ... so I recommend it. Can it do wonders ? ... well maybe :)

I like the way this thread is going. The OP attacks Linux as some unusable piece of junk. You guys respond back, very knowledgably, that no OS is perfect, and at the same time not touting Linux as end-all-be all. He responds back with "see, I told you linux is junk". Definitely a troll.
To the OP: Get on with your life. Don't use Linux if it doesn't work for you. To the rest of you: Good job not turning this thread into an elitist attack. :) |
He might be a troll, but his other posts seem legit and it looks like he actually tried for find solutions to his problems.
