Here's what I would do: unless my monitor and/or microwave had any warnings about doing such a thing, I wouldn't worry about it unless I saw problems.

By the way, I work with radar and lots of other radio/microwave-based communications devices at work. I'm military and I work with Integrated Aircraft Avionics systems. I can't see how using a microwave near a TFT screen would be a problem unless:

1) The door to the microwave is malfunctioning, letting some energy out (but you'd notice this in many other ways, not just with the TFT screen), or

2) You have them right next to each other (i.e. they're physically touching near the vent holes for the microwave's power supply, since microwaves use lots of power). Still, I don't see this breaking either appliance.

Mod Note: Not really a Linux technical question

I'm a little concerned, but maybe not about what you'd think.

If the implication is that someone will be sat close to the monitor for extended periods of time, and during that time the microwave will be on, again for extended periods of time, there are concerns about their health. Now this should be covered by the standard periodical checking of the microwave for leaks of microwave energy, although as many organisations either don't do that, or their checking is ineffectual, its still a concern.

I don't see

because I'm not sure what the other ways would be. There would be some degree of heating, for sure, but if that heating was gentle and prolonged I'm not sure that you would notice it (again, I'm more immediately concerned about human exposure that electrical equipment, but maybe there aren't any humans around).

Secondly, there could be a concern with heat. At least you'd know about that by the temperature, as most TFTs would have a reasonable operating range.
