I presume you use a gun for target shooting or keeping the rabbits down, rather than demanding the "right" to parade through the streets of Melbourne with an assault rifle!

Poll is misleading

The poll assumes that the only use for guns is self defense. In fact self defense is a minor use for guns. In considering potential gun laws you have to also consider hunting, target shooting and target competitions, varmint control, collecting, and civil war reenactments among other things.

Absolutely correct!

As far as I'm concerned anybody wanting a working assault rifle should not be allowed to have a licence.

Keep in mind it's only a specific poll.

I think your idea is misleading (tho evolving,) guns weren't originally created for hunting or target practice were they?

Unsubscribed.

(and yes, I can see the irony of making a post just to say that. See it as the criticism it's meant to be)

You can always be right, if you know you're always wrong... shoot that in the head!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, (shock rock;) if everyone who believed in guns: good, bad, ugly, just shot themselves dead,,, instant evolution( to some degree!

It's literally 1000000000% okay to have privately owned howitzers and orbital laser cannons that are designed to only to kill people with them, because people killing other people for 'completely random reasons' is incredibly rare.
There are ancient mummified bog bodies of cripples and who show signs of care and they came from an age of much harsher natural pressures overall.

I can think of a myriad of ways to get killed by things that aren't guns simply because I live in a trust based society, and even 'savage' people generally don't just waste one another.
Yet, murders are rare, and it's really not difficult to kill someone, even if some weapon is represented in some video game or something as some sort of weak thing that should be discarded as garbage.

Diablo (2) for example, kind of an old game, one of the first weapons is "club", and it does like 1-2 damage.

But go ahead and get smacked with a sturdy branch IRL and see what happens. Especially if you also bonk your head on a hard floor while you stumble around.
I can get poisoned, burned, stabbed, bludgeoned, strangled, sliced, bound and neglected, blinded, lacerated, drowned etc, all without a gun, yet here I am, yet here are my neighbors, etc.
We have all these options AND opportunities, but we aren't descending into a mass murder orgy, and it's just as easy to smash me in the neck with a rock while I fumble with the key at my unlit shed door as it is to snipe me from 2 miles away to turn my head into a pink mist.
In fact, it might just actualy be easier.

No, I don't support the disarming of people, makes it harder to mess with them. Like Wasps or hornets. Very few people mess with wasps or hornets.
I can not ever believe anyone has my benefit in mind if they told me I should be less armed than I am right now, ever.

P.S.:
Consider me giving you a super duper Geist extermination ray that you will always get away using it with.
Would you IMMEDIATELY fry me? If so, why?
After all, if it's something I might have said, and you're anti gun and therefore possibly pro 'human discourse', then you should use discourse against me, right?
And aside from saying something, I ain't gonna come around and demand all sorts of horseshit disruptions in your way of life, etc.
So, would you immediately vaporize me? If I let you in peace otherwise? If I don't physically antagonize and accost you?

No? Yes?
If no, then why shouldn't you own a solar system destroying weapon? Or a universe erasing weapon?
Unless you're a complete nutjob, why would you erase the whole universe? Because it's scary if someone has that? Because its scary if you have that?

Why is it scary? Why would the scary man shoot? Why would the scary man press erase? Is he insane? Or do you think too many things are making the scary man aggressive?
Etc.
It's mostly silly to frontload all of such things to guns or weapons when a suffiencitly motivated person with a passion rarely gives a hoot anyway, universe deleting bomb or sharpened spoon handle.

How do you get God's will from guns? In the beginning it was the 2 in a garden. They were to care for animals, not kill them for food. That didn't come till later after the flood which coincidentally is when it says that animals had a fear of man started, they weren't afraid of us nor a threat at the start. What could a gun possibly have been good for in that original environment?

Trying to avoid the diverging to religion to much but I'm genuinely curious how you come to that conclusion?

In the future instead of wearing little gold crosses round their necks, they may believe he came again; so, could be wear little gold guns after he's shot in the head?

You either believe more in facts and see the way it is or opinions... https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ml#post6130726

Come on, everyone knows you at least have to pretend to or subconsciously believe in God in order to own a gun!

probably just a minority, but, you know.
It's nice to have options.

Got a crossbow for them sneaky creepy ones. Funny on how people think they are safe if we outlaw guns. Metropolitan life thrives on murder. Rural life thrives on survival.

I think the ongoing riots are a really good pro gun argument.

Why?
Because 'shadey websites' are full of laughter and derision at "meowmeow ass Americans who should just shoot all those mumblemumbles, but you are all a bunch of bundles of sticks who just take it like female dogs. Where are your guns now you pansies. All talk, no walk." (somewhat paraphrased).

So, if even the worst hotbeds of 'incels and hyperradicalised 30 year old unaboomers' are getting teased for being weak and docile like that, then, if this all blows over, referencing the relatively low violence from gun owners, especially regular folk, might be a boon.
