Im glad this section of the forum re-opened!
I was frequently coming to see what was going on with this 'general' section of LQ as it was the only one worth to engage IMO, apart from other technical stuff.
Hope you guys are doing all well btw!

I'm glad too. Hopefully the new rules will make this a more civilised place than it became recently. Thanks, Jeremy!

The rules are literally right at the top of this forum.

You're welcome. I think the new rules are a good thing. I'm glad you're here.

Thanks to those who do the thankless task of moderating this forum.

Back when my first software company was getting off the ground, I decided to start a forum. I very quickly discovered two things: - My customers had not asked for a forum, and generally did not participate.
- I loathed being "a moderator!"
Therefore, within a matter of a few weeks, the forum was permanently gone. And, nobody missed it. Not one single person who had ever placed an order asked to have it back. (The "private support message" facility was used frequently.)
"Moderators" have to work constantly, literally every day, to "de-pollute" any forum website. My tiny experience gave me new respect for them – and I'll never volunteer to be one.

I think that in such a case no message should be posted until moderated.

Me, too. I moderate a few now, populated almost entirely by respectful people, and enjoy it.

That quickly proves to be unmanageable. Some [business ...] sites do use this policy, but it is basically "letters to the editor." It does not lead to "conversation." And it leads to an awful lot of not-revenue-producing tedious work by staff. ("The editors.")

Unfortunately, I see "threads 1-14 of 14." In other words, all of the previous content appears to have ... disappeared.
Decades of it. Apparently gone.

I think there's a little dropdown thing at the bottom where you can change it to like the entire time, it shows many pages for me.
does this work?

It may be a slow conversation but it still can be. If it saves support work that would improve the status of the product enough to make it pay...
