Lucky you! The bark is the normal sound, as opposed to the mating call.

The back garden of our flats runs down to a railway cutting, so they often come up. They don't mind when they trigger the security lights, so when a vixen brings her cubs we can go out onto a balcony and watch them playing. I sometimes see them in the daytime, trotting down the street or sitting on a wall watching the world go by. I once stood next to one as we both waited for a break in the traffic so that we could cross the road.
