About a month ago I bought a Dell Latidue laptop from a computer recycling company. Which I've got to say the little thing is tempermental about finding it's damn hard drive and the mouse is over sensitive, but it's warming up to me.
So anyway, it came preloaded with Windows 2000 Professional, which well is a crapy operating system. So I made a fdisk to delete the partition forever! Haha! (Which I've got to say Microsoft made it hard to do, they wanted me to pay for some kit to get an fdisk and XP didn't make it right. So I got got hack off the internet and used it instead... I'm so evil!) Then in magically it was gone!!
I installed Fedora Core 4 as the only operating system and I was happy. 30 Gigs all for the Linux (which I probably won't use most of)! Sorry, random tangent, it just felt good. That's all! ^_^

Actually, in my opinion, Win2KPro was the best thing ever to come out of Redmond.

You should really take a look at the LQ Rules -- especially this one:

I'm ditto-ing the Win2k comments. It's what I have set up for my parents to use as they need Windows for a couple of programs and 2000 is best best on offer.
That said, any version of fdisk will have cleared out Windows without a hassle. No matter how evil people believe Microsoft may be, they cannot stop a partition being removed if you issue the correct commands.
I'm not sure why you had to download anything from the web to clean Win 2K. I've always used the fdisk tool that comes with Linux successfuly.
Am I missing something?

No! That's no good. Windows 2000 Professional is actually the best version of windows there has been.
"
NT4 and Win 2000 are the *nix" among all the graphical Windows operating system ...
QUOTE :: "Or perhaps more acurately, the VMS among Windows... "
wow ... thats a good read , specially that part where a russian was said to be able to grap Windows NT source , awesome !! ...
NT seems harder than before , hmm ... VMS ... not sure whether theres an x86 emulation or what ...
SenakSquared , is it a kind of wastage to have 30gb just for linux itself ?? theres still freebsd and x86 solaris , maybe 3 or 4 primary partitions for testing and learning ?? nothing much , just some ideas ...

Too right. There was a time when I did that by accident. Deleting windows, can you do it? It's the thing to do if you want to do it, let's do it some day. Let's do this.
Live your life the way YOU want it; that is the destiny for many.
