I'll CLI

I was bored

"I'll CLI"(To the tune of Gloria Gaynor's "I will survive")

At first I was afraid
of the CLI.
Kept thinking I could never live
Without a GUI

But then I found that using text
Doing things won't take so long
And I grew strong
And I learned how to get along!

And so it's black
With grey typeface.
I just log in and start to type
A happy look upon my face.

I would have dumped that stupid mouse,
I would have learned to use these keys,
If I had known, in half one second,
I could do what took me three!

(chorus)
Go on now, Gnome!
Walk out the door!
KDE's gone now!
I've learned the joys of 'grep' and 'more'!

You were the ones who said I needed GUIs,
To stick with a mouse,
To just want candy for the eyes!

On no, not I,
I'll CLI!
As long as I have Bash to use
I know I'll feel alive

I don't have time to waste on junk,
That treats me like a clueless punk,
I'll CLI
I'll CLI (hey hey!)

They took all the time I had
The question "Why?" I'd ask.
A multitude of sub-menus
For every simple task.

It used to take me oh-so-long
Just editing a single file.
I used to cry
But now I know how to use vi!

Check out my screen:
No graphics lard!
I'm not a chained-up little slave
To my graphics card!

And so you tell me you've upgraded
Say I need the new Qt.
But now I'm saving all my disk space
For the apps that work for me!

(chorus)

Trust me, the last thing I'd ever do is let a recording of my 'singing' get online
