If I had to sell it to my other half, I'd tell her about all the great Open Source programs she already uses such as Audcity, Open Office, Firefox and Thunderbird. I'd then tell her about the great stability and speed.

Having said that, she is the one who walked into a Linux suite at Uni when looking for the Mac room and couldn't understand how to use KDE.. S'pose she wasn't far off, though, they're both Unix based.

And on the subject of using other OSes as kids, by the age of 12, I had used various flavours of windows, Risc OS (Acorn), Mac OS, PRODos (Apple 2) and I had started reading about Linux and Unix.
