Pulling my hair out!
After 2 and a half hours of downloading the gentoo ISO`s I find out my darn CDwriter is not working all of a sudden, so i am now redownloading them onto my win98 system cuz i know the writer there works imagine that, LOL. Gentoo, Debian, Mandrake witch one? and does anyone here think Suse will be around long or go the way of RH?

I think you should install which ever one you like the most. I tried SuSE and don't really care for it too much. I would rather use Redhat. I don't really like to use Redhat right now, so I'm using Slackware. Debian.....Never tried it....so I don't know. Gentoo I tried but it doesn't seem as stable as Slackware and it takes too long to install. I have a life therefore I don't have time for Gentoo :)
My 2 cents.... |
i am also migrated from redhat to slack.... i am happy with it...

From other responses and other posts i have viewed, Isnt Slack more command line based and not very GUI friendly or is that just a misperception? I see that theres a lot of people that swear by Slack so there must be something to it.

I figure by the time i figure out how to do that the downloads would be done.
