How many girls drives with sports cars?

How many girls have military career as an officer?

How many girls play football?

Well...only few of them. And perhaps they are not my ideal girlfriends. :-)

Linux is a macho operating system and requires testosteroine...definitely. Ladies like Mac OSX or Windows... :-)

Tommi: I thought we had come to a conclusion earlier in this thread on men vs women relating to Linux. <sigh> I don't know if testosterone is required to run Linux, but, if so, it obviously doesn't take much [our levels are much lower than a man's] as evidenced by the many women who post here.

As far as ideal girlfriends are concerned, you're on your own there. Surely, in this day and age, you don't really believe that Linux=macho man and Windows/Mac=the "inferior" sex, ie, women, or is that "bimbo"?

Have a nice day, eh?

Women have to be smarter than men, cause i never would have been able to say that and actually make sense :p ....................smart reply :)

So you are perhaps 29 c or 20 d -- who cares :).

But since you are the expert here, what is the difference between girls and women?

Linux is not a "testosterone" based OS. Comments like this will get you bitch-slapped. All it takes is a willingness to try something new and be adventurous. Generally that is not encouraged in our society that women be this way, but there are some who think different. And please dont sit there trying to say that anything but Linux is an inferior system. Everything has their uses, even Windoze. Its just that Windoze has the least because it rarely works right, but that is not my point.

As far as JZL240I-U is concerned, the difference between a girl and a woman is there age or maturity, either physically or emotionally. Physically I am 28, but many think I am in my early 20's because I dont act old like I am 28. I am young at heart. Which is why Trickster calls me girlie.

I will however admit that there are not to many women here compared to men, but that just means we need less help to make things work:p

I am getting my 13 y.o. daughter into Linux. She likes to chat on-line and she loves gaim. It only took once for her to use it, and she asked me to create an account for her so she could use it more. Hey, it is a start.

cybergal 07-17-2003 11:59 PM

And what a great start it is, grizzly. Way to go!

I'm aware of that general distinction. But where is the line?

As a guess, you personally will probably feel young when you are in your eighties ... for my own person, I don't think that age is of very much relevance but the reason for that may rest with the fact that I have a beautiful wife :) many years younger than I am -> draw your own conclusions :D.

Bingo :D.

Well, I need all the help I can get to make me learn Linux even I've used it every now and then. Age ~30. But age doesn't matter if you're young at heart =D

DavidPhillips 07-18-2003 04:37 AM

There's more ladies here than you think.

Nothing macho about computers, they just do what you tell them.

Linux is such a pain that it remains bodybuilding...its just for brains, but its most important muscle for soldiers too.

It gets easier every day though. I'm not kidding ;)

One day a while back my mom got this popup telling her that her windows 95 installation was "coming to the end of it's life cycle" and "would no longer be supported". She phoned me up and asked if I could install Linux, because she was "sick of this b*llsh*t".

All she wants to do is surf a bit, check email and play freecell, and Redhat does that for her quite nicely.

So there you go, my mom is a 51 year old technophobe who uses Linux...
