"North Korea is so obviously superior to every other civilization on Planet Earth that its enlightened citizens ... who are delighted with their lot and who fight to keep everyone else out of their little peninsula Nirvana ... need nothing more."

I used to listen to the voice of north Korea over shortwave. They would always say that kind of stuff. It was funny to listen to.

Nothing such as phrases like "imperial dogs" and "puppet regimes" to brighten your day.

Reminds me of the old joke, sorry not sure who by originally, that "In Soviet Russia there were two television channels. The first was a state propaganda channel and the second was just a message telling you to go back to the first.".

I was told the joke by my uncle, with my mother translating, and watching the television being described -- it was pretty much as the joke.
Sadly, I don't think that the North Koreans have the ability to do anything. I hope I'm wrong.

they certainly can tell jokes.
if at all possible, i think they are even harsher than the former soviet union jokes i know:
http://www.rfa.org/english/news/kore...008183510.html
excerpt:
Quote:
An Englishman, a Frenchman, and a North Korean are having a chat. The Englishman says: “I feel happiest when I’m at home, my wool pants on, sitting in front of the fireplace.”

The Frenchman, a ladies’ man, says: “You English people are so conventional. I feel happiest when I go to a Mediterranean beach with a beautiful blond-haired woman, and we do what we’ve got to do on the way back.”

The North Korean man says: “In the middle of the night, the secret police knock on the door, shouting: Kang Sung-Mee, you’re under arrest! And I say, Kang Sung-Mee doesn’t live here, but right next door! That’s when we’re happiest!”
here's a nice ex USSSR i found:
Quote:
Two Russians discussed who was greater, was it Stalin or President Hoover.
“Hoover taught the Americans not to drink,” says one.
“Yes,” replies the other, “but Stalin taught the Russians not to eat.”
