Well, actually I never really converted anyone, 'per se'. There were a few factors that brought about the conversion:
1) I'm pretty much the only one in my family who can do anything complicated with a computer.
2) Once I switched to Linux I refused to maintain Window$ anymore, which is nigh impossible and futile.
3) They were intrigued by an OS that did not crash constantly and cannot be overwhelmed by viruses and malware. (I had a REALLY hard time even keeping the 'infection' at bay with Window$, but in the end the prognosis is always terminal
, a terminal illness that's what it is, you can only delay the inevitable)
Only problem is Window$ games, but my brother switched nonetheless because he can't play them on Window$ either, it's way too unstable and filled with malware. The only theoretical way (which I proposed) is to use that freezing program that freezes the infection in its current state, once in a while you have to unfreeze to install something new (a dangerous time), but in reality it really suck to have to do this. Many games run through wine, only a few do not (but can be fixed to run on it).
I can't help but remember the fear I felt while using Window$, I felt it recently too having to use it at school, the fear that I'm walking a tightrope or that I'm handling explosives, you have to be very careful with it or it will f' up.
[/end Window$ rant]
