How about me and the "amigos" coming out to Kalifornia for a visit...to get out of the deep freezer here (temps going down to -5 next coupla nites).
What's the weather out there? In the 70's or 80's? I was going to move out there back in the late 70's...to Pasadena. Loved it, but went back to school instead.

Well it rained today, but it wasn't too cold, mid 60's I'd guess. The last few days before that has been sunny and warm in the low 70's

It's explained in another thread. Basically, I got up a little early today and visited the board while reading my work email. I noticed that someone posted a thread, and when I went to reply, it was no longer there. Within a few minutes, several were either deleted or locked. So I asked a question, no response. I knew what was coming, penrich had said it only a couple of days before, and knowing what happened last time something changed happened, I started posting that threads were being locked or deleted. Then the threads I created were deleted. So I rapidly posted warnings, or IBTL's in as many threads as I could, randomly to warn everyone, possibly to get an explanation for what was going on. Then other people started seeing my threads, or figuring it out for themselves, so they put up a sticky telling them that changes were being made, that there was no longer an off topic forum. Problem is, they had assured us nothing was going to be changed other than the name. I got a little miffed about it, and proceeded to put IBTL or "how long til this post is deleted" in about 10 different threads. Quickly, my account was banned(he said he sent me a PM and I then started posting , but it was the opposite, I read the PM, and couldn't even reply because my account had been banned). Next thing, my posts in the last days threads were all gone, they were going behind me and removing any posts regarding the new policy. Of course I could log in with any of my old accounts( I take that back, a couple were borked, which was one of the reasons I created the last one) and posted, but I decided it was more worthwhile to find us a new home. So here I am. I am on 4 sites, but this one seems to have the most active base, and it moves fast. I read through 5 pages of threds in general and off topic, hardware, etc...Been reading most of the day in fact--getting a feel for the place. And I like it. Seems most of the other guys like it also, so it may well be our new home, if our hosts are in agreement. The technical questions here are no different, but you have to have an off-topic area, to keep the feeling of community alive. They have it here, LNO doesn't. A simple choice.
If you'll look at the threads, the "walk on by" one in particular, you will note that I wasn't overly concerned in the beginning, but instead of locking threads(I can understand controlling direction), they had started deleting. That was worrisome. I don't mind control of speach, to maintain a proper decorum, but censorship is not something I look kindly on. I was about to remark that to profit, I was actually replying to his PM, but when I hit submit, it was locked...in the time I started writing the reply no less.

Funny. Actually I type around 97wpm on a keyboard. At LNO, I was simultaneously on several boards, so it doesn't seem like much on each board. But I thought attention needed to be made to house our recently dislocated population, so I have only visited a couple of my normal spots, in the interest of the group. Since I seem to have the attention of the mods...How do you guys feel? Do you think we can live together? I promise to only hog the covers, and not the remote too.
