i would like to recommend a nice board for posting off-topic subjects:
http://communities.anomalies.net/

they are the one site that i have never been censored on. they have a off-topic board too. i haven't been there in a while as things were getting old - with all the same old posters and messages.

Warning: Recent JL news. Please ignore as you desire.

The zero dissent policy continues.
A Newcomer's Perspective in JL Talkback.
A new member commenting on recent changes get's told by "guess who" that they can just leave if they don't like it and the thread gets closed.
Apparently there are 3 simple rules at JL:

1. Please do not post anything that the moderators find annoying as this serves no purpose. Please refrain to making positive comments wherein you agree with what the moderators do.
2. Please do not post anything that the moderators find annoying as this serves no purpose. Please refrain to making positive comments wherein you agree with what the moderators do.
3. Please do not post anything that the moderators find annoying as this serves no purpose. Please refrain to making positive comments wheren you agree with what the moderators do.

Loud and clear.
Absolutely unbelieveable.

Sad, there were several discourses that were worthy of publishing.
Heh, I got local copies of ALL the NHF's , they are not deleted yet, but who knows.

They aren't deleting their own NHF. Its the old threads he's talking about in /dev/random.

That was me (I was "dsc"). I took mdwatts' advice, so I'm here now. It's amazing that those guys can't see how they're gutting their own community, but it obviously wasn't worth my time or yours to hang around.

Actually, I'm glad. When I came to LNO (about a week before it stopped being LNO), I wasn't just looking for some quick answers to a few impatient questions. I wanted to become a permanent part of a Linux community where, as my knowledge grew, I could contribute to others out of my gratitude for all the help I've been given. The reason I'm glad is because now that I'm here at LQ, it is clearly the right place to be.

My good german buddy, 802.11. Amongst his other threads, a database for a hardware store that classifies products based on paint color, whipping up PCI cads in his basement with chips containing special php code, and a way that his computer can contact hom via cell phone if someone breaks into his place. Not to mention his various questions about windows problems in a (sigh) linux forum.

At least they only closed his thread rather than delete it.

It's gold.

Well I hate to post this cause I know it will give WillamBishop untold joy but I just banned myself from JL. Banned yourself? How is that possible? It's quite easy at JL, just critisize bproffitt enough, hit a few "nerves" there and "poof" you and your 3000+ plus helpfull threads are history.

I want to know if I have any legal recorse to have all my 3000 posts removed from the JL site.? It seems that bproffitt just removed the posts which I exposed his ignorance and left al the other posts.

What set you off?

Did you see or hear something that the rest of us should know? It seems like you were suggesting that Bprofit is in bed with SCO somehow?
I think that whatever you posted is now property of JL.
Sorry to see you go...
je_fro

PS
You could always restart your DSL (or whatever) and get a new IP?
How does banning work? MAC address?

Wow. I didn't know the problem had gotten that bad at JL. I banned myself way back when WilliamBishop got banned, and I haven't been back. At the time I didn't agree with the reasons for banning him. Looks like I made the right decision to tell them to cut my account off.
