Question Home Security Cameras

I'm looking to purchase and install some outdoor and perhaps 1 or 2 indoor (pan-tilt) cameras however really don't know much about it. I've looked at Craigslist and see some kits available however I don't about CCTV but generally any kit is very over prices for the quality of products and it seems to me that they are marketing these kits to soccer moms who are not technically savvy at all and could care less about the FPS each camera gets.

Does anyone have a good site for building a good / affordable CCTV system? Something that tells me what components are needed so I can shop around or get the best bang for my buck?

Check out the motion project website. It has a lot of info on how to deploy a Linux based CCTV.
