I've tried to burn ISOs before and I've extracted the files from ISOs to CDs, and it never works!

I've used about 40 cd-rs and I still can't get it to work.
Ppl always say, get the ISO, open Nero, drag file there and press burn and you got a great, new bootable cd!

It's more like: get the ISO, open Nero, drag file there and press burn and you got a dud CD that you can't do anything w/!

I got Nero Express 6, dsl 4.0.ISO, a cd-rw burner, windowsxp home sp2 and some cd-rs.

I can't find anything that works, so can somebody tell me a bit by bit instruction to burn a ISO file!

I've downloaded tons of 600mb ISOs and I can never do anything w/ them!
100kbps takes forever to get a file that big!

I think you would find "Burn CD Image" under a menu item called "Recorder". Just check that out, dont remember Nero...................... long time since i ditched windows

Edit: The above instructions were for Nero Burning Rom, why dont you switch to it from Nero Express, that button would be there somewhere(One with the burning colloseum).

Edit2: Otherwise you can download MagicISO. Its about 2.3 MB and wont hurt your connection. I have seen lots of ppl recommending it(but i havent used it myself). But as usual, like everything downloaded in windows, check for virii, malware, adware, spyware and the lot.

Ok, you seem to have the OEM version of Nero(that comes with CDRW drives). I am not sure if you can burn ISOs using that.

With that type of attitude, your not going to get members rushing to give you help. Tone it down some, be a little patient please.

I think that you need to use the function "diskimage or saved project", but you could try to right click on the iso file and chose to open it with nero.

If you want help, you might want to tone down the attitude.

It sounds like you're just burning the .iso file to disc which isn't what you want. An ISO file is an "image" of what the disc should look like to a computer and is used for creating an exact replica of a CD. Unfortunately, I don't have Nero at hand, but what you want to do is burn a disc image using the ISO. Take a look through Nero's help system, you should be pointed in the right direction.

Also, another thing you might want to check into, is running MD5 checks against the files you've downloaded. Downloading a 600+ MB file usually works just fine, but occasionally an error will occur and you won't know about it until you're trying to do the install and it craps out on the third disc.

And btw, shorten up your sig. It messes with the layout of the forums.

I also have Nero Express 6. kimx is correct, you need to select "Disc Image or Saved Project" from the menu. If you want to burn an ISO, you just need to select the "Image files (*.nrg, *.iso, *.cue)" option for the "Files of type". Then, locate your ISO and you should be able to figure it out from there.

--- Step 1 Launch Nero.

--- Step 2 Select "Copy and Backup" icon near top right of dialog box.

--- Step 3 Choose "Burn Image to Disc"

--- Step 4 Choose "Image Files (x.nrg;x.iso;x.cue)" from the "Files of type:" drop-down list.

--- Step 5 Navigate to the .iso file. Dbl-click on it or select it and choose "Open" button.

--- Step 6 Choose the "Write Speed" and "Number of copies" values on the Image Recording dialog box. Click Next.

--- Step 7 If you don't have a CD in the drive, Nero will ask you for one. Otherwise, Nero begins the burn process.

--- Step 8 Unless there was a problem, you're done. Nero has a couple of more screens.


Version 5.5 or earlier

--- Step 1 Insert a blank CD into the CD writer

--- Step 2 Launch Nero.

--- Step 3 In the File menu, select "Burn CD image".

--- Step 4 Choose as file type: all files (.), since Nero expects files with the NRG suffix.

--- Step 5 Select the ISO image file

--- Step 6 You will see a dialog box asking if you want to supply detailed image parameters.
(for later versions, these are the default values)

Enter the following parameters:

* Type of image: Data Mode 1
* Block size: 2048 bytes per sector
* File precursor and image trailer: 0 length
* No scrambled and no Swapped.

--- Step 7 Click on "burn". If the program complains that there are errors in the image file, click on the button "Ignore" and launch the burning.
